Position Title: Team Manager, Content Planning and Delivery Location: Egham, UK Department: Research & Advisory Operations Reports to: Director, Content Production Job Summary Manage a global team of editors and writers aligned to specific coverage area(s) addressing client needs. Supervise, coordinate, and track editing/writing workflow for research documents, optimizing allocation of resources and ensuring timeliness and high-quality of content. Partner with Research and Advisory team managers/GVPs to understand their teams’ focus and priorities associated to the coverage area(s) covered, and drive alignment in the content being produced. Take responsibility for final approval of every published document. Act as first escalation point for disagreements between editors/writers and analysts or Research and Advisory team managers. Identify ways to innovate for operational excellence and maximum scalability. Manage and oversee content production projects when appropriate Key Responsibilities Lead, influence, and mentor editing and writing staff Recruit and onboard new editing and writing staff Identify and implement an integrated global strategy for creating and editing content in line with the focus and priorities of the Research and Advisory content area(s) covered Work seamlessly with Research and Advisory Strategy team & Operations team, as well as Research and Advisory management to ensure effective use of editing and writing capacity Monitor standard metrics to optimize capacity and tier responsibilities Balance workload and handle requests for editing or writing assistance on special projects Take ownership for document quality/timeliness and handle sensitive negotiations with Research and Advisory analysts and team managers Provide input to the development of company-wide editing/writing/quality policies, standards, and procedures Ensure that content quality standards and style guides are being carefully followed across the team Demonstrate understanding of client needs in the Research and Advisory content area(s) being supported to drive timely production of must-have research Leverage functional expertise to offer guidance, input, and recommendations to editors, writers, analysts and Research and Advisory team managers Provide, facilitate, and manage programs and initiatives to develop staff’s editing/writing skills, and to share best practices while underscoring ethics and standards Establish a high-integrity environment fostering team work and collaboration Define, shape, coordinate, and deliver training solutions to help maintain Gartner’s position as a leader in market research Embrace a growth mindset and continuously look for ways to improve scalability and efficiency through focus and innovation Education: Education to degree level, with excellent English writing skills Professional Experience: More than 10 years’ writing /editorial experience in a high-pressure environment with strict deadlines University degree in journalism, writing, English or related field Post-graduate degree preferred Technical Professional Skills & Competencies Management-level experience in shaping editorial product, or management of writers, editors, reporters or freelancers Several years of consistently excellent performance with proven track record in growing successful teams Extensive experience in strategic, managerial, and mentoring roles Innovative spirit and change agent Demonstrated ability to manage projects in parallel and to meet deadlines under pressure Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Exceptional editing and writing skills, and demonstrated ability to adapt material to a specific audience, subject, and delivery medium Excellent understanding of editorial processes, and good working knowledge of publishing environments Familiarity with technical, finance, and business terminology
